Welcome to Fawn Lily Botanica! Fawn Lily Botanica is a small apothecary line of natural plant-based body care, cosmetic, medicinal, and herbal products. Owned and operated by me (Irene), all products are handcrafted in-house in the Pacific Northwest. I derive much of my inspiration from wild botanicals growing within the nestled valleys, lush woodlands, alluring meadows, and enchanting mountains of Oregon. You will only find pure, fresh, and organic ingredients in my products that are ethically grown and harvested.
Making botanical body care products and studying herbal remedies has been a personal passion of mine for over twenty years. Over the years, I have been especially drawn to formulating natural body care and skin care products, and have slowly honed my recipes. My recipes have been featured and published in national magazines, blogs, newsletters, and journals, but most importantly, my formulas have helped others along their skincare journey to beautiful and balanced skin.
THE STORY BEHIND FAWN LILY BOTANICA...
I grew up in a "hippie" homestead on the Oregon Coast where natural foods and remedies were a part of our daily life. My father is a Naturopathic Chiropractor and my mother a health-conscious vegetarian. Both are passionate about gardening, and eating whole, natural, and organic foods. We never used conventional medicine at home, instead my dad would hand us a bottle of Echinacea & Goldenseal tincture when we began feeling ill. It must have worked! I never went to the hospital for a sickness while growing up. We grew most of our own food organically on our land, kept beehives and collected our own honey, caught wild salmon and steelhead, canned and preserved food to enjoy all year, went mushroom picking in the fall and winter months, and harvested fruits and berries during the spring and summer time. This early introduction to natural living paved the way for my life-long interest in natural remedies and local, organic food.
After high school, I moved to Eugene to study Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon. It was during this time that I realized my own interest in herbalism and felt especially drawn to learning about natural body care. I had always struggled with having dry, sensitive skin and I had a difficult time finding products that didn't irritate my skin. I purchased my first herbalism and natural cosmetic books when I was 18, and began the adventure of learning how to make soap, lip balm, lotion, shampoo, and other natural cosmetics. I found employment at various health food stores and outdoor stores during college, and after graduating, began working for a national herbal products distributor. I delighted in the variety of organic herbs, spices, teas, and botanical ingredients readily available at my fingertips and began building up a small herbal apothecary in my home and building upon my herbal knowledge. Altogether, I have worked within the natural products sector for over 20 years, and have have had the incredible opportunity to attend numerous herbal conferences and work directly with and learn from many of the world's leading herbalists.
Sharing recipes, knowledge, and empowering others to make their own products is something that brings me great joy. My articles and recipes have been featured and published in national magazines, blogs, newsletters, and journals including the Mountain Rose Blog, MaryJanesFarm Magazine and Newsletter, EarthFirst Journal, Farming Magazine, the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) Journal, Amaze Magazine, Willow and Sage Magazine, Eugene Magazine, and the Eugene Weekly among others.
After 16 plus years of studying herbalism and testing recipes on myself, family, and friends, I began Fawn Lily Botanica in 2012. My focus is to create gentle and balanced cosmetics which truly honor the powerful properties of botanicals. Plants are powerful! You may notice that my formulas don't smell as strong or give the squeaky-clean feeling that you may be used to from other lines - that's intentional. I have found that my specialty is creating gentle products that can be used by everyone, and along the way I have helped others with their journey to having glowing, radiant skin. I truly hope that you enjoy my creations!
